In an effort to ease the state’s budget crisis, California lawmakers met in Sacramento to debate the merits of legalizing online poker within the Golden State.

Many of the state’s Native American tribes have joined forces with casino owners to petition the state senate to consider legalizing online poker for state residents. California has suffered from a severe budget shortfall and has been forced to cut back many services.

CakePoker.com, a major online poker site, announced that they had purchased one of the World Series of Poker championship bracelets won by poker legend TJ Cloutier from an eBay auction earlier this week. Mr. Cloutier earned the bracelet when he won the US$5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em even at the 2005 WSOP.
